Jyothis Project:
Jyothis is a project of Mar Thoma Church
Adoor-Mavelikkara Diocese. It is a home to care for, nurture and train
intellectually challenged children. This project was established in
1994; and as of July 2005 there were 84 children and 17 staff
excluding the director and his family. The training provided by this
project is based on the syllabus of the National Institute for the
Mentally Handicapped. The training varies from painting, drawing,
craft, music, dance, horticulture, sports, soap & detergent
production, etc.
The current director of this project is Rev. Raju P. Zachariah (the
former youth chaplain of the Northeast Regional Youth Fellowship). 5
youths from the St. John's Mar Thoma Church Youth Fellowship visited
this project at various times this year, and were truly affected by
the mission of this project. One youth even stayed at the project for
an extended period of time in order to help RPZ achen and the staff
with the children. We have decided to do what we can to help with the
new construction and expansion of the
Jyothis project.
Our Pledge:
The St. John's Mar Thoma Church Youth Fellowship has decided to donate
at least 50% of the proceeds from the Regional Fall One-Day Conference
to the Jyothis project. In addition, any donations made by the
participants of the conference, will be donated in full. Please assist
us in raising as much funds as we possibly can, and keep the
conference and the Jyothis project in your prayers.
Have a blessed day :)
